POSITION: Director of Sales & Marketing

DEPARTMENT: Sales

REPORTS TO: General Manager

FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Salaried-Exempt

Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for Director of Sales & Marketing at ASM Global/Albuquerque. Responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of overall sales strategy and complete marketing campaigns for all facilities and events including but not limited to group sales, box office, sponsorships, advertising, direct mail, promotion, and publicity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for active solicitation of all sales, including but not limited to association, trade show, meeting and conventions, local/social events, sporting events and live entertainment.

  • Responsible for maximizing rental for ASM Global managed assets in Albuquerque, NM by broadening and diversifying client base and through an aggressive sales approach.

  • Seek new contacts and maintain working relationships with all media representatives, civic and industry organizations, corporate promotional contacts, meeting, event and booking representatives.

  • Remains current on national trends in the industry and local market changes that affect the facilities.

  • Act as a liaison with building personnel, DMO, DMO's clients, etc. to represent ASM Global and assure client's needs are meet.

  • Represent the facilities in industry-related Trade regional and national tradeshows.

  • Operates the department with conscious commitment to maximize exposure for the facilities and their respective events, through the most effective and efficient means possible.

  • Prepare and ensure compliance with all rental agreements.

  • Direct the public relations image of the facility. Establishes and maintains relationships with media, industry influencers, and key community and strategic partners.

  • Recognize opportunities to receive publicity from building operations, activities, awards/honors, etc. and share with local, regional, or national media and/or ASM Global Corporate.

  • Prepare and manage budgets.

  • Prepare bid proposals and follow through on pending bookings.

  • Negotiate, compile, develop, and execute venue agreements.

  • Develop and grow self-promoted events for the facilities.

  • Prepare and assure compliance with all rental agreements.

  • Handle pre-event correspondence and meetings until the account can be turned over to Event Services and/or Food and Beverage teams.

  • Maintain and increase facility signage revenues.

  • Annually produce collateral such as marketing plan, year-end recap, year-end video.

  • Evaluate current marketing and sponsorships to ensure greatest return on investments and most efficient use of assets.

  • Prepare and implement annual Sponsorship Sales Strategy Plan.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of a lead system/existing client database.

  • Prepares Sales and Marketing Strategy Plans. Maintain and update facilities booking calendar.

  • Ability to effectively train, supervise, mentor, and motivate staff.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, with accuracy.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with live entertainment promoters for ticketed events.

  • Oversee the Box Office staff to ensure proper ticketing builds and sales, promotions, advances, and financial settlements.

  • Acts as the on-site Public Relations liaison for media inquiries to ensure proper reputation management and media coverage.

  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.

  • Manage relationships with stakeholders as it relates to sales strategy, and booking policies

  • Formulate and execute individual/department sales goals, marketing activities, and branding strategies for all venues, as well as, overall sales & marketing strategy for ASM Albuquerque.

  • Direct sponsorship plans and coordinate partner development efforts.

  • Acts as Executive on Duty as required.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including strong proof-reading

  • Ability to effectively train, supervise, mentor and motivate staff

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrate high level of energy and self-motivation to work effectively and enthusiastically with co-workers

  • High aptitude for financial figures and advanced writing skills

  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic

  • Graphic design and web design

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Managers, Assistants or Coordinators and part-time positions in the Sales and Box Office Department. The Director of Sales & Marketing carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years sales related experience required

  • 2-3 years supervisory experience necessary

  • Facility/industry experience preferred

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite -- preferred.

Other Qualification

  • Ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours

  • Ability to travel required
