Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Group Treasury in HK Branch ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities anddecisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive workenvironment.

  • Assist the team in marketing strategies to expand existing client relationships and develop new clients through product variation, pricing and a deeper market knowledge of our instruments to provide stable cost effective and diversified funding.

  • Comply with all Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and BNS regulations and best practices, including all money laundering and Know Your Customer policies as advised by Compliance / KYC / AML teams

  • Provide feedback and ideas on the Bank’s liquidity strategy and funding to generate the most cost effective liquidity on a daily basis

  • Keep abreast of economic and financial events as well as political situations which could have market implication on pricing and liquidity

  • Provide competitive prices, benchmark to marketing desks to encourage client business and to trading desks as required to win business/trade effectively

  • Provide funding for the two currencies (HKD and CNY) to business teams in need as well as toother BNS offices when needed.

  • Operate within all authorized limits across the desk

  • Assist in the execution and management of the HQLA portfolio for regulatory purposes in a cost efficient manner.

  • Monitor the bank’s liquidity ratio and monitor future funding requirements, cash commitments to ensure liquid assets in sufficient to meet financial obligations.

  • Make joint calls with RMs and keep good rapport to expand our customerbase.

  • Cover the core Treasury functions of the China branch in the absence of the regular staff.

  • Manage the KYC and Onboarding requirements for theteam.

  • Support for Business Continuity Plan (BCP) update and testing at BCP site.

  • Support in any ad hoc tasks assigned by Manager from time to time. Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role) • University degree in Finance, Economics & Statistics • Strong mathematical aptitude, sufficient IT savvy, conversant with Treasury products • Have skillset and experience in analyzing, managing FX, interest rates, asset & liability and liquidity management • 4 – 6 years working experience in Money Markets and Treasury with knowledge in trading in banking and financial institution
