Senior Accountant, Accounting Quality, North America
The Senior Accountant, Accounting Quality plans and executes North American store reviews and consolidated risk based analytical review procedures. The Senior Accountant works alongside other members of the Accounting Quality Team reviewing store compliance with dealership accounting policies, US GAAP, and other regulations. Reporting to the Supervisor, Accounting Quality, the Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting initiatives to maintain quality and consistency in financial reporting across Lithia’s North American network.
Responsibilities
Maintaining up to date knowledge of Lithia’s accounting policy manual, auditing techniques and US GAAP
Conducting appropriate work procedures to test store compliance with policies, procedures, manufacturer and lender requirements and US GAAP
Preparing reports of review findings and tracking remediation efforts.
Collaborating effectively by proactively seeking input from relevant resources and consulting with colleagues to ensure testing conclusions are appropriate
Coaching staff accountants on daily and project based tasks, performing initial detail reviews of work performed by staff accountants
Developing and maintaining a positive, productive, collaborative professional relationship with Store and Home Office Personnel
Tracking budget to actuals on store reviews
Participating in other cross-departmental initiatives as needed
Skills and Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and communication skills
Strong time and project management abilities
Effectively articulates problems and contributes constructive solutions to discussions.
History of maintaining composure and delivering results consistently when performing field work or operating against deadlines
Adapts to change and switches tasks seamlessly as priorities evolve
Proficient in data analysis and technology utilization, including Microsoft Excel
Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or Data Analytics preferred, relevant work experience in dealership accounting or general accounting considered in lieu of a degree
2+ years of relevant experience, public accounting and CPA, CIA, or CISA designations a plus
Willingness to travel 25-50% of work hours
