Seattle Children’s Hospital Registered Nurse - Surgical Unit R5/F8 (0.75-0.9 FTE, night shift, every other w in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities: Registered Nurse - Surgical Unit R5/F8 (0.75-0.9 FTE, night shift, every other weekend) River 5/Forest 8 Surgical Unit is a dynamic 51 bed acute care floor that cares for post-op pediatric patients across the age continuum. We work with many different Surgical services (including General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Plastics and ENT/OTO), as well as Neurology for EEG/seizure monitoring. Our unit recieves transfers from peri-op/PACU, the Pediatric ICU, and the Emergency Department. Our patients come to our unit to recover from surgery, and nurses get to take an active role in their recovey before dsicharging home, with an average length of stay of 3-4 days. Nurses on our unit enjoy the challenge of working with a diverse patient population and a variety of diagnoses & surgical procedures. Our unit is known for collaborative teamwork with many professional development opportunities like precepting, mentoring, Shared Governance, Charge Nurses, Super Users, Auditors, and educational classes. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e., Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, Workforce Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) etc. Job Posting Addendum: River 5/Forest 8 Surgical Unit is a dynamic 51 bed acute care floor that cares for post-op pediatric patients across the age continuum. Requirements: Required Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments. Required Credentials: Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required for all positions at time of hire unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area (refer to requirements per practice area below.)
