Abbott Director Talent Acquisition, APAC in Singapore, Singapore

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Director of International Recruitment, the Director Talent Acquisition, APAC, will have responsibility for leading the APAC recruiting center, ensuring the sourcing, recruitment, and selection of world-class talent. You will manage an operating budget of $5MM and lead a team of approximately 80 Talent Acquisition professionals and contractors. Your role will involve delivering approximately 5,500 hires per year, representing around 30% of the global volume. As a member of the International Talent Acquisition leadership team, you will contribute to broader strategic HR and business initiatives, including talent pipeline development, succession planning, digital recruitment capabilities, and diversity and inclusion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and lead APAC recruiting center strategy, ensuring the sourcing, recruitment, and selection of world-class talent.

  • Build, develop, and lead internal recruiting teams, fostering high performance and a competitive drive to exceed targets.

  • Collaborate with business leaders and HR Business Partners to understand, assess, and analyze current and future strategic workforce planning and talent needs.

  • Translate the global Talent Acquisition vision into APAC recruiting center deliverables and execute it with an "Abbott first" mindset.

  • Proactively think long-term and lead towards Talent Acquisition excellence.

  • Engage, motivate, and act as a role model to peers and team members.

  • Manage competing priorities, recognize patterns and trends, and adjust the strategy or plan accordingly.

  • Interface with and gain commitment from across levels in the broader Abbott organization to continuously transform APAC talent acquisition function to deliver high-quality services, while reducing overall costs and increasing speed and quality.

  • Act as a brand ambassador, positioning Abbott as a "best-in-class" TA function and a top employer in the market.

  • Partner with global TA practices (Early Career, AXS, Diversity recruiting, Branding, and Operations) to define and execute Talent strategies that yield business outcomes.

  • Continuously and effectively manage the workload of internal, external, and outsource recruiters to ensure the best fit solution for hiring needs and hiring manager satisfaction.

Strategic Talent Acquisition Delivery:

  • Elaborate and cascade well-communicated team goals and objectives in a centralized environment.

  • Explore and implement best practices in APAC talent acquisition to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions, improving Abbott's overall talent level and bench strength.

  • Participate in the development of technology, digital, and marketing solutions aligned with business needs, resulting in productivity gains for APAC TA.

  • Personally lead the successful acquisition of key talent or critical projects.

  • Identify, implement, and track key recruiting performance metrics.

  • Lead M&A activities as needed.

Partner (internal and external) Management and Direct Sourcing:

  • Actively manage and oversee current partnerships to ensure appropriate service level agreements (SLAs) are met for delivery quality, responsiveness, and cost expectations.

  • Focus Partnerships on customer and candidate experience, assessment quality, and continuous enhancement of sourcing capability. Aggressively promote direct sourcing excellence through the utilization of Abbott internal resources.

  • Creatively challenge Partners to build and deliver excellence in each stage of the recruiting process.

  • Drive high engagement to increase accountability, integrity, and performance.

  • Act as a partner relationship manager (PRM) for strategic academic institutions such as universities, high schools, trade schools, and diversity organizations to align with our global early career and diversity recruiting offices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 10+ years of experience in talent acquisition, leadership roles in a comparable sized and growing organization.

  • History of leading teams in matrix organizations within a complex environment.

  • Full-cycle recruitment experience acquired in Fortune 500 companies. Extensive experience in hiring up to DVP level.

  • Proven track record of leveraging marketing campaigns and developing direct sourcing strategies to engage, attract, and nurture passive candidates.

  • Recognized as an expert in recruiting in healthcare or adjacent industries, with the capability of engaging with competitor leadership to identify and build a strategic talent pipeline.

  • Successful track record of implementing talent acquisition best practices to enhance execution and operational excellence.

  • Accomplished in recruiting across all enterprise functions and in-depth knowledge of managing complex talent acquisition budgets.

  • Multi-country talent acquisition experience is required.
