Job Description

Job Summary:

Missile Range Ground Support Manager will support the Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) Target Division (TD) on various target programs such as the Zombie and Economical Target 2 missiles. Candidate will manage and support the development of launch equipment and test event activities to include equipment and test requirements, flight test launch operations, and range safety support for telemetry tracking systems. Candidate will support development of target missile requirements, maintenance and upgrade of ground support equipment, placement and set up of launch operations van, maintenance and setup of missile launcher, integration and test of launch equipment, and flight test launch operations.

Candidate will be responsible for all ground support equipment repair, maintenance, and will ensure operational status. Candidate must be proficient with complex mechanical equipment including missile launchers, overhead cranes, weight handling equipment, carry deck cranes, forklifts, man-lifts, transportation carts, ordnance handling equipment, semi-trailers, semi-trucks, and hydraulic systems. Candidate must be experienced in preparing a target missile launch site at White Sands Missile Range and similar launch locations, followed by supporting the execution of launch operations. The candidate will also participate in flight test planning meetings, missile Integrated Product Team meetings, and other associated target meetings as required.

Candidate is expected to review requirements, develop new equipment, maintain equipment, coordinate the movement of equipment, oversee equipment certification operations, launch site configuration, and equipment check out. Candidate must have the personal and interface skills to provide direct support to divergent customers.

Job Requirements:

• Requires a BS Degree

• Familiarity with SMDC White Sands facilities and ground support equipment

• Able to Obtain or currently hold(preferred) a Commercial Driver’s License

• Crane and Forklift certification required.

Qualifications:

• Candidate must have a broad knowledge of SMDC Target Missiles or White Sands Test and Evaluation Events

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, MS Word, and Powerpoint

• Must be adept at note taking and detailed daily status reporting.

• Must have highly developed written and oral skills.

• Must be able to work well within a team environment.

• Must be able to simultaneously work multiple complex tasks.

• Must be able to communicate well with senior leadership.

• Must be able to understand how to obtain and explain detailed technical information to non-technical personnel.

• Must be proactive and energetic.

• Must be capable of working independently.

• Must hold a secret or top secret clearance.
